Raspberry Pi and Windows IoT Core - Three projects to develop yourself in .NET

The aim of this book is to guide these .NET developers, whether experienced or beginners, in this new world of embedded computing. After a hardware presentation of the Raspberry Pi board, the reader will be able to install and discover all the facets of this new operating system that is Windows IoT Core, as well as these indispensable tools such as Visual Studio. A large chapter is devoted to how to interact with the real and external world using the different electronic connections of the Raspberry Pi, without forgetting to give some basic notions in electronics. The author then proposes the realization of three concrete projects. First, the realization of a shopping list creator, combining barcode reading and printing. In the second project, the reader will become familiar with image acquisition and geolocation by creating a small camera capable of generating jpeg images with embedded geographical position. Finally, it is impossible to leave aside the tremendous potential of the map for regular measurements of our daily environment. This is the objective of the last project: to carry out measurements of temperature, humidity, pressure, luminosity, whether they are inside or outside the house, and to follow its electricity consumption. Throughout the book, the author's experience enlightens the reader on the hardware choices and programming principles from the professional world, always taking care to lighten the functioning of the application so that it remains efficient and economical. The coding and electronic connection techniques are detailed and explained in such a way as to allow the reader to understand the result obtained and, ultimately, to reuse the concepts and improve or adapt these projects to his own needs.
