BOOTING YOUR RASPBERRY PI



When you receive your Raspberry Pi, you'll need to boot it up before you can start using the applications you bought it for. Whether you want to learn about programming (the primary goal of the Raspberry Pi Foundation) or you already have a very clear idea of how to use it on a daily basis, getting started is the same either way.



Step 1: The accessories you will need

To start your card Raspberry Pi you also need

A power supply suitable for your card. If you choose a USB cable, use a USB adapter to connect it to the mains.

A pre-loaded NOOBS micro SD card. If you did not opt for the pre-loaded card you will need to install an operating system on your SD card.

An HDMI to micro HDMI cable (for the Pi4) or HDMI to HDMI (for the Pi3)

A monitor

A keyboard and a mouse



Optional:

An ethernet cable

Headphones or earphones

Step 2: Connecting the Raspberry Pi to its accessories

Once your Raspberry Pi is fresh out of its packaging, you can then begin the installation. Now you need to connect your Raspberry:

1. Insert the microSD card in the compartment provided for this purpose

2. Connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB ports

3. Connect the screen via the HDMI cable.

- If it is a Raspberry Pi 4: The HDMI connects to the display and the microHDMI connects to the Raspberry.
Note: you can connect two displays with the Raspberry Pi 4 and enjoy 4K

- If it is a raspberry Pi 3: Connect your display to the HDMI port of the Raspberry

4. If you want, you can connect to the network via the Ethernet port

5. Connect headphones if needed to the audio jack

6. Connect the Raspberry Pi to the mains via the micro USB power supply

If everything is working properly, the red and green light will be displayed on the Raspberry and NOOBS will be launched on the screen.

Step 3: Start your Raspberry Pi with your NOOBS card

1. Once the Raspberry Pi is turned on, let it open.

2. When the RPi asks you for the login, enter "pi", then the password "raspberry".

Beware that the default keyboard is not in AZERTY as it would be in France but in QWERTY, as in England!

3. To switch to visual mode, type : " startx ".

4. You can now discover the graphic aspect of NOOBS.
