The Raspberry Pi is a computer stripped of all artifice. But to use it concretely, some accessories are essential, others more optional, to be obtained according to the use that one will make of RPi. If ports and connections are numerous, no peripheral is delivered with the Raspberry Pi.

Essential accessories to start the RPI, the same as for a classic PC

A 5V 1Ah power supply with a micro usb cable (if you choose a USB cable, use a USB adapter to connect it to the mains)

  • A keyboard and a mouse usb
  • An SD card that will act as a hard drive, since the RPi is delivered without one
  • Speakers with a plug for audio
  • A screen
  • An hdmi or pal cable to connect to a screen
  • An Ethernet cable for connecting to the web

Other useful accessories to use the RPi properly or more easily

  • A pre-programmed Debian SD card to install the Linux operating system,
  • A card reader allowing you to read up to 9 card formats (SD, mini-SD, micro SD, SIM card, MMC Mobiles..
  • A mini-hub, in anticipation of connecting more than two USB wires to your RPi, which happens quickly since the mouse and keyboard are connected by default, or a larger hub that can connect 7 USB ports at once
  • A cigarette lighter power supply for a very mobile use of the RPi
  • A Wifi key
  • A case if you want to move it without damaging it.

Once the mini-computer is in hand, and the appropriate accessories are in place, you may want to visit the Pi Store to download applications specifically developed for the Raspberry PI. (see our page on applications, coming soon)
